As we close in on Christmas, many are wondering what is wrapped in that beautiful Christmas paper under the tree!  Gifts are great, and they bring extra excitement and  fun to the celebration of Christmas!  The greatest gift though was born in a manger in a humble stable.  There was not pretty paper and ribbons, no lit Christmas tree, and no warm fire in the fireplace!   It was a night like no other in the history of the world, it was the night the world was changed forever.

Life is meaningless with out texture.

texture |ˈteks ch ər|noun the feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface or a substance : skin texture and tone | the cheese is firm in texture | the different colors and textures of bark.• the character or appearance of a textile fabric as determined by the arrangement and thickness of its threads : a dark shirt of rough texture.• Art the tactile quality of the surface of a work of art.• the quality created by the combination of the different elements in a work of music or literature : a closely knit symphonic texture.

“The feel, appearance, or consistency”……  Having Jesus in my life has brought (a.) feelings of real joy, (b.) an open appearance of a life of real peace, (c.) and most important of all a life that has one consistent daily reminder that when that baby was born, He also changed my life forever!

My dear friend, and boss, Scott Diussa, gave me a song a few years ago by Reliant K that continues to be one of  my favorites, here are the lyrics;

“I Celebrate The Day”

And with this Christmas wish is missed
The point I could convey
If only I could find the words to say to let You know how much You’ve touched my life
Because here is where You’re finding me, in the exact same place as New Year’s eve
And from a lack of my persistency
We’re less than half as close as I want to be

And the first time
That You opened Your eyes did You realize that You would be my Savior
And the first breath that left Your lips
Did You know that it would change this world forever

And so this Christmas I’ll compare the things I felt in prior years
To what this midnight made so clear
That You have come to meet me here

To look back and think that
This baby would one day save me
In the hope that what You did
That you were born so I might live
To look back and think that
This baby would one day save me

And I, I celebrate the day
That You were born to die
So I could one day pray for You to save my life

On Christmas Eve, I will light a fire and sit in the dark and look at the fire and remember that within a few hours, “I will celebrate the day!”

Merry Christmas #1,

the pilgrim

The shot?  Another great subject with wonderful texture I couldn’t pass up!!   Nikon D800, 24-120 AF-S VR at F8, 1/15th of a second, ISO 200.  This is about 60% of the full frame, the joys of 36 mega pixels!
