Thanks for the lessons….

You probably don’t know this man.  He was one of the first people I met when Sherlene and I moved to Corbin over 35 years ago.  He and his wife Opel became some of our best friends.  We went to church together, belonged to a “young” couples Bible study group, yes I was young back then!  We became great friends, he was one of the most decent men I knew.  I love his family and I pray for them daily.  He was a great loss for me, Sherelene, his family, and our church, and community.  He was worthy of praise and his visitation and funeral were attended by huge crowds of people that loved and appreciated him, he will be missed.  He was a Christian who lived his faith.

On the same day he died from a stroke, another famous man died,  His picture was on the front page of national newspapers. He was described as a hard charging political animal who did what he had to to win, no matter what.  How sad for that to be your legacy!

Jim Trivette was a good man, he made a difference, nothing like that could ever be said of him. I know their was a great celebration when he arrived in Heaven!

That’s how I want to live and die.

Thanks Jim for showing me the true path with your life!

Blessings,

What a blessing to have such friends in our lives. You are such a friend and guide for so many of us. We are blessed now. Thank you for this post … and for being you.

I often remember that Princess Diana and Mother Teresa died the same day. One was on every TV program, news media, and everyone’s tongue – the other was hardly ever mentioned. Millions attended one’s funeral via TV, cable, or satellite, the other only had a few at the funeral. One was a modern day Joan of Arc, making a difference in thousand’s of lives (millions indirectly), the other was being a part of the rich jet-set, that evening stepping out on her husband. One is remembered every year with 1000’s of tears shed – the other is hardly remembered at all.

People are the least sane creatures on the earth – never learning what is truly important – only remembering what media tells them to remember. How sad! I am glad you have celebrated the good, the important – and understand “Value” in deed, in commitment, and in character! Thanks for another wake up call!

    Blessings my friend!

    • Well said, Bill. At times like this we are reminded of the brevity of our earthly lives and the insignificance of our earthly treasures, awards, and accomplishments. I rejoice to hear that your great friend spent his time storing up heavenly treasures. To God be the glory!
