It all started here…..

Several years ago, I bought my first Fuji camera, an X10.  I got such amazing images from this $699. camera.  When Fuji came out with the X-E1.  I purchased one and on a trip to Nashville shot the image above with the “kit” lens the 18-55 f 2.8-4.  When I blew it up to 3′ x 3′ (that is feet by feet).  The print was made by Stephen Hart of Jasper Imaging.  The acrylic face mount print allowed the file to be seen in all it’s glory!  To this day knowledgable photographers viewing the print, can’t believe it was not made by a medium format digital camera.  After many viewings myself, I came to the same conclusion, the 16 mega pixel X-Trans sensor is one of the most capable image makers I’ve ever used!  For me 16 mega pixels is more than enough!

As I began to acquire the Fuji XF lenses i released that Fuji was on to something very, very special, well made, metal lenses with aperture rings and sterling performance!  As the lens line started to round out, they did something else very special, a series of single focal length, speed lenses (f 1.2 to f 2).  Just like the early lenses, I found these to be among the best I’ve ever used.

Fuji followed up with the X-T1 and all my needs were finally fulfilled!  How was I to know that one image made in 1:1 format with the X-E1 would lead to this.

Tomorrow I am flying up to Valhalla to Fuji’s corporate offices to do some video taping with them. This has turned into a great relationship!

Blessings,

My relationship with them has been postponed, since I missed the $200 off sale on the X100T recently. Maybe I’ll wait for its predecessor. But I’m glad you are having such a great time with them, I enjoy the reading.

I am sure you will represent yourself and Fuji well. Remember, just not to much makeup. 🙂

  6. Good for you Bill, I to made the switch from Nikon to Fuji (EX-1) and then accidentally met Tony Sweet in the Smoky Mountains and he showed me his XT-1. It was history came home and sold all my Nikon gear except one complete kit. That was 2 years ago and as I sit here I am strongly selling the remaing gear when I come home from my next trip that I leave on tomorrow.

They have made some truly amazing and capable gear.
    Have a good one,
    Jeff

I now use the Fuji X100t and will soon be getting the XT1 thanks to the excellent results from the X100t and your many articles on the Fuji system. I was also a former Nikon user.
    Keep up the good work

    Thanks Bob,
I am very enthusiastic about the X-System, as it, because of size, weight and image quality allows me to remain an active shooter when my Nikon’s simply became to heavy to allow me to work comfortably! I’m so thankful I had this option!

Bill, I have a question. The print you were talking about is great. I have an issue with getting the print I am looking at on my monitor. The issue I get is that it is too dark when I purchase a print. I can get the print I am looking for on my Epson 1430, but not elsewhere. I have tried to darken my monitor but to no avail. I am using Lightroom for my software. I know my question is a little off subject. If you wish to devote a posting for another time feel free.
Hope to see you at the Summit

    Bless You

I cheat! I have Stephen Hart, (Jasper Imaging), make a smaller test print to check density! The issue you are describing is pretty common, and why a lot of print makers invest time and money into a quality ink jet printer, like yours. I don’t need or make a lot of prints, if I did I would do them myself with a ink jet!

    Bill:
Does 4.0 firmware update on the XT1 change your basic settings or your field work flow?
What do you think are the major benefits other than the improved autofocus?

No it does not. It speeds up a number of functions and adds some needed features. The full list is on the Fuji Firmware update website!
