Slept really late…….
Different day- same boat.
I have boycotted the NFL all season but couldn’t resist seeing the Super Bowl, mostly for the commercials!! Anyway, glad I watched. It was likely Tom Brady’s last game, maybe Belichick too. It was a great game, a nail biter, but it was worth watching the whole game to hear the three principles for Philadelphia give all the glory to God. Great to have something positive come out of the NFL!
So, I didn’t get up this morning until almost 10:00. Just two shots this morning, will work on some more later and hopefully post a few more!
Sherelene offered to pay for my Yoga class, but I told her I couldn’t photograph them if I was in the class!! Wheeew, close one. …..and really can you see me in this photo? Yeah, me too….

Sherelene and I went out for lunch and then drove out to the California Lighthouse. It was the wrong time of day, but I shot one anyway and thought the monochrome was best, will go back when lots of puffy white clouds frame it. in early morning or late afternoon, way to windy to put the drone up.
I met a guy named Bonita and he gave me some good information on other locations I hope to try to shoot, I loved his sun glasses and my reflection in them, he kindly, actually rather enthusiastically, allowed be to photograph him!
The people of Aruba are warm and friendly and eager to help, great change from some other places I’ve visited!
When we got back to our room the sun had shifted over and is heading for a sunset over the water. I love this light for backlit boats and this was a good one too!!!
Timing is everything!!! As I shot the image above I saw just outside the frame a speedboat roaring into my frame, I knew had this one so I got ready to get the right moment of the juxdiposition of “old and new”!

Just my opinion for what it’s worth. It’s not cheating; I would do it and have done similar; and no I don’t feel guilty.
Great, I felt very little guilt, but feel even less knowing you agree!!!
No way is that cheating …… now using a drone for photography I am not so sure about …. since I don’t have one I am going to have to say that using a drone IS cheating 🙂

I like the lighthouse without clouds lots of clouds. The clouds near the horizon are fine. Too many clouds near the top of the lighthouse are distracting.
I love how the clouds provided some shade over the boats. It made the silhouettes stand out nicely against the bright ocean. As for “cheating” to show only the old boat, I see you just did electronically what many of the predecessors would have done in a darkroom in creating their vision. If you were shooting a journalism (news) shot, the changes would not be acceptable. However, if a drone was equipped with an anchor line cutter and said drone “accidentally” cut the the anchor lines allowing the boats to drift out of the frame, that would be acceptable for the journalism shot. :^)

You’re having far too good a time down in Aruba! I was tempted to send you a photo of snow-covered Michigan where we’re basking in a bracing 17 degrees, but I decided not to harsh your mellow! BTW – Happy Birthday! You seem like you’re spending it appropriately!
My brother told me on the phone last night not to worry about the fact that he was envious and hated me! Trust me I am glad I am not in the 17 degree temps, but will be Saturday night when I fly back into Knoxville, oh well, that’s why they call it a vacation. …and thank you very much!
These are great! So glad you two are enjoying ARUBA. BTW, if you saw the coin toss at the Super Bowl, the gentleman who did the toss is a 94-year-old WWII Medal of Honor winner from our hometown.
