Can you be a light in the darkness?
Do you have a mission? What is your mission? The word mission means; a strongly felt aim, ambition, or calling. Webster’s Dictionary.
So what is your calling? As and observer of life I would say I’ve seen a lot of different people with different missions. Some want success, whatever that means to each individual. Some want wealth and power. Some want to be loved or admired, some to just be left alone. Some want ot bring pain and agony to others, some are driven by hate. So is the world. My mission is very simple; being overcome with joy and thankfulness for what God through His Son Jesus has done for me, I want to serve Him. His instructions on how I am to serve are very easy to understand.
I am to live in a way that honors Him, and I am to share His love and forgiveness with everyone I meet.
Sounds great, but how do you do it. Obviously, first you accept Christ and ask Him to give you the wisdom and strength to carry out this task. I do not have the strength or wisdom to do this on my own. No offense intended, but none of us do. Once you make that commitment, there is one very important thing you must do. Avoid falling into the trap of dwelling on how the world sees itself.
If you go out and listen you will find people that exhibit these characteristics; Love, forgiveness, charity, peace, joy, grace, generosity, and compassion. They offer hope and stand for what is right. They believe we can be better than we are. Unfortunately, there are also those that exhibit a far different attitude about life. These people will be indentified by their; accusations, criticism, negativism, greed, division, resentfulness, blame, and derisive comments. How can you overcome these people? Love them, but do not listen to their hate filled speech, and do not accept their premise of life.
Jesus, went right out into the world and sought out the worst, that He might bring them home to Himself. We are to do the same, but we must always remember that we are not Christ. It is only through His power, protection, and love that we can see a victory. We must constantly strive to love for Him, while asking for His protection from the arrows of the enemy.
I fully confess that my first reaction to these negative people of the world is to be angry myself, but that is falling into the enemy’s trap. Jesus said “Love your enemies and treat those that try to harm you with kindness.” In all honesty, apart from Him, I can’t do it. That’s the point, we were not designed to go off on our mission, apart from Him.
Amazing Love
I’m forgiven because You were forsaken,
I’m accepted, You were condemned.
I am alive and well, Your sprit is within me,
Because You died and rose again.
(Chorus)
Amazing love,
How can it be?
That You, my King would die for me?
Amazing love,
I know it’s true.
It’s my joy to honor You,
In all I do, I honor You.
I’m forgiven because You were forsaken,
I’m accepted, You were condemned.
I am alive and well, Your spirit is within me,
Because You died and rose again.
You are my King
Jesus You are my King
You are my King
