No, I haven’t died and gone to heaven….. or then maybe I have!

Sorry guys, I have been in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for the last couple of days testing the D800 as a Landscape camera, and I’ve been shooting from daylight to dark both days and the wireless connection here has been awful even if I had the energy to write anything!!  I met up with a photography friend, Eric Harmon and we have been giving the D800 a real workout. Nikon has advertised the D800 as a landscape camera among it’s other uses, and since that is one of my loves, I really have been anxious to see just how well it would perform on subjects I very familiar with.  I’ve been on the road constantly and will be out traveling for Nikon all but three days in June so I felt like late spring in the Smokies might be the best option.  I will not go on and on about the camera, I’ve done that already!  I will say that it has proven to be a real joy to use in field work.  I will let the images tell you the rest!  Needless to say this is one incredible picture making machine!

O.K. I haven’t died, but I may have been hanging around heaven for a couple of days!

  1. Nice shots!! Looks like it did its job?

I especially like the one of the church pews. There is just enough light to tell you what you are looking at. But most likely I would have looked at that on the camera’s LCD and thought it was too dark. Nope, just right! Well done.

Beautiful shots Bill. I so would love to go out to our local hills and mountains to shoot s some of the same sort of stuff. Unfortunately since I fell in the fall off 2010, I’m too unstable to be turned loose around loose rock. Ah well, I thank God for you reminding me of how beautiful our God’s creation truly is. Again, thanks Bill.

Pray for me Bill. Today (Sunday) I should be with our Church. I may have retired from the pulpit, but my right place its to be there, fellowshipping, singing, playing, and contributing to the worship of the Saints. Instead I’m at Home, with my foot elevated, suffering with an attack of the gout, trying to avoid being in the hospital. I know that this isn’t my fault, but I sure miss being with our Congregation and feel a little guilty.

    Blessings,

    Rob

I agree with Rodney on the church shot. I have seen this one done in HDR dozens of times, but I think I like the exposure in your shot better. Just enough light.

The Smoky Mountains are pretty close to heaven.

Bill, I love the shot inside of the church. In the beginning God said ” Yep that’s my Bill”

    Thanks for sharing
