A Day in the Life…….

Some of my friends can’t believe what a great job I have, but they have never been at an event with me either!  This morning started with a 3:00 a.m. wake-up call, but I didn’t sleep that long!  Trying to get onto Mountain Time, I went to bed at 7:30 last night, I was awake by 11:30 and cat napped until 1:30, sleeping was over so I got up showered and surfed the web, and then met Kyoshi in the lobby to head over to the launch field.  We opened the press center in total darkness and chilly temps.  As the morning drug on a cold front moved in producing strong winds and much colder temps, all launching of Balloons was cancelled for the morning.   While I was waiting for Kyoshi to show up in the lobby I saw something that caught my interest, the interplay of light and shadows on the hotels outside walls.  After processing the file I thought it might just work as a Black and White!

We worked in the center until late morning when all flying activities were cancelled for the rest of the day due to weather, the photographers all left to rest up for another 3:30 start Sunday morning, so we did too.  I was worn out and tired but I’m a photographer, and I had not shot much of anything all day so I checked out a junk yard one of  the other shooters told be about, it was closed but I could shoot through the chain link fence.

I saw the staircase shadows on a oil tank on the way back to the hotel to collapse, then get up and process these images to share with you!

I’ll try get a good ten hours sleep before the wake up call at 3:00 a.m.!

Thank you Lord for such a great job and that I haven’t died on the spot!!!!

Blessings,

  1. Love how you took that photo and showed both the color and the B&W. Each has its own beauty – I think I prefer the color in this one – I would almost call it a B&W in color – what I mean is that it seems very much a two-color photo and I see all the shadows. I really love it! Glad you had time to take it even though it was like 4 am or something like that.

Monotone images often have that same characteristic of black and white. One thing is for sure, a photographer is a photographer no matter what the hour, even if they are a little sleepy!

I am very thankful to be your friend but I am not one that envies your schedule. It’s unbelievable. I love that you find photos everywhere! I hope you get to photograph some of the balloons. And that you get a good nights sleep.
