Off to a great start…………

11 years, 5 months ago 13

Well after 7 hours of driving, (home from Henderson and then on to Louisville to fly out this morning), Sherelene and I arrived in Marco Island this early afternoon and immediately collapsed by the pool.  A short soak in the hot tub and I was out like a light in the shade on lounge chair!!   Later we cleaned up, well not too much, my favorite beach clothes, a comfy t-shirt and North Face shorts, and went to the local Micro Brewery for some killer pizza and the fun of watching all the fans yelling at the 20 TVs with all the  late NFL Sunday games playing, what a great start to a week of rest I need desperately, and Sherelene needs even more!

Just before we left the hotel for dinner the sun was setting over the gulf and I was able to fire off a few shots with the D600 and the 70-300 AFS VR.  I have to tell you, I’m really loving this camera.

To all my photo buddies joining us out west in early November, you better rest up, if the rest of the week goes this well, I’ll be loaded for bear!!

Blessings, thanks for all those that have been throwing up prayers for my getting some rest!!!

Enjoy your time off Bill. Not sure updating your blog counts as “not working”…LOL. But I wish you a very relaxing get away and God bless.

Thanks Jason, actually a few minutes a day to fire off an entry actually helps me relax, you know, how it is getting your responsibilities done makes it easier to kick back!

If you are going to be loaded for bear, we really do need to rest up! And here I thought we were going to have nice relaxing 16-17 hour days with lows in the teens and twenties while in the Southwest. Now you’re thinking of making it strenuous? Sherelene, don’t let him get too much rest.

Hope the two of you have a fun and restorative time. – Lynn

I’m not worried. Bear sightings are actually very rare in Bryce and Zion unless you count rock formations. So you can only be ready for bear in Monument Valley. Then we can all relax. (It’s amazing the info you can find on an iPhone.)

Hi, Does anyone know of a way of cinnghag the way that emails look in your inbox so that you can see at a glance if they have been replied to without opening them to see if there is the text you replied on xxxx’ ? I’m looking for a simple way of telling when an email hasnt been replied to without having to do anything so the ideal way would be for all emails that have been given a reply to change colour in the inbox so its clear which emails have and havent been replied to. Any ideas anyone? Maybe an add on? We are an internet retailer and get hundreds of emails per day at times so i want an idiot proof way of missing an email to reply to. We use outlook 2007 at the moment.

Great images Bill! And what a beautiful family! One question if I may . . . I always struggle to get the kind of exposure you got with the sunset. Can you share what you exposed for, metadata and such? Also really appreciate your continuous witness. Your blog has become one of my daily devotionals. Blessings!

I find it harder to do in digital, you have to fool the white balance, since in film days we shot daylight balanced film and then the change in light caused the warm glow. I shoot in cloudy or shade depending on how warm I want the sky and reflections, I then post process to get the intensity I want. The image above was with a D600, 70-300 AFS VR, ISO 400 1/650th of a second at F 4.5.
