2013’s Dirty Dozen

10 years, 4 months ago 13

Most of 2013 I have been learning a new system, the Fuji X System.  My first exposure to Fuji was an X10 that I picked up as a light, easy to carry, walk around camera at the beginning of my shoulder issues.  I was shocked by the results I was getting from the little X10, in fact the only thing I wasn’t thrilled with was the noise above ISO 800.  Then Fuji came to the rescue with the X-E1!   I’ll spare you the rest, but as you know I own a ton of X System goodies, and over this year have really enjoyed my results.  As you know I’m a generalist, and this light system has worked well for me.  Here are some of my favorites from the year’s take!

I love everything about this stuff, the color, the lens quality, and the wonderful monochromes right out of the camera!  At the end of this year, I’ve had more fun shooting,  gotten better results, and have less shoulder pain than ever before!  Can’t wait for 2014!

Blessings,

Couldn’t help it, a few more!

Great photo’s. I would love to move to a smaller camera system, unfortunately once I make a choice that will be my smaller camera, can’t afford to keep changing cameras. I will keep my Nikon D600 and the 28-300 lens. The new Fuji x-E2 is selling for $1399 and the x-E1 is selling for $753 both with the kit lens. What are you thoughts.

    Thanks, Fred

That’s a tough question! The X-E2 is a big improvement, but, the X-E1 was a great camera in the first place! I think a X-E1 would be a very reasonable way to put your toe in the water! One warning though, any first step will very likely end up with a bigger jump!!!! By-the-way, the D600 and 28-300 is an awesome combo! It’s all good!!!!!

I drank the Kool Aid! Ordered an XE-2 with 18-55 & 55-200. Not giving up my Nikon gear, love it like nothing else and can still carry the weight, but sometimes have BDWG syndrome (Bogged Down With Gear). Hope I’m gonna like traveling light from time to time. Looking forward to seeing what it can do, and more than that, how it will affect my photography. Thanks for all your teaching this year. You have included two of my favorites from this year, Sundrift Gorge and the air cleaners!

Thanks Mike, and you have a good plan, I still have a lot of my Nikon stuff and would never suggest clearing out of any system without a long period of time to decide what your “long term” system needs will be! I came into this system for medical reasons, but simply love where I am now that I’m there, which is great, because my shoulders are shouting, “you can’t go back”!!!!

    Hello Mr Fortney,
I’ve been a follower for quite a while and really do enjoy your photos and the word you share. God is good! I rarely comment but I felt compelled to share a small issue with you.
I subscribe to your blog and many others through “Bloglovin” I get a daily email usually in the morning giving me the latest on the blogs I follow. There’s usually an image along with the blog title and a few lines of teaser text. I’ve been noticing lately that when your blog shows up in that email your teaser text was gibberish. That didn’t concern me as I found upon connecting to the blog it was clearly written. This morning’s email was different. I took a screen shot of my email to show you the text that shows up in your teaser text. It’s advertising less than desirable products. If you’d like to see the screen shot you can email me. I imagine you would rather not advertise such things with your blog. I was just wanting to bring it to your attention.

Thank you for what you do

      Holly,
thanks for the heads up, we have been trying to find out the source of these un-authorized attachments and are attempting to get rid of them! I can assure you we have nothing to do with them, and are very concerned about this cyber attack!
Thanks again for keeping me informed!
