The Right Hood!!!!

I love the Fujifilm XF 16-80 f 4 lens!!!!!!!!  It is tack sharp, built very well and has a great equiv. focal length range of 24mm to 120mm.  It also comes with a lens shade that sucks!!!!!   But….. I found the solution to the only thorn in the mix, the new Haoge LH-X18N Bayonet Square Metal lens hood.  It fits perfect, really shades the front element from all but the most direct light, and has a superb metal lens cover that really fits nice and tight!  Below is the Amazon description.  Now it cost $45.99 so I’m afraid it’s a case of you get what you pay for.  This is my most used lens and this lens shade makes it perfect!

Your choice….. but if you own the 16-80,  I highly reccommend it  Nuff’ said!

    Bill –

I love Fujifilm lenses but am also frequently disappointed in the lens hoods. This is a great recommendation. Do you have recommendations for any of the other Fujifilm lenses?

      Thanks Steve,
I don’t use a hood on the 10-24 instead I use an older Nikon polarizer that has a larger front thread,
It’s really hard to find a shade for a 10mm wide angle.

I use this hood for the 16-80

I use the bayonet provided hood on the 70-300

I fund a vented metal hood on Amazon that works great on the 23mm f 2 and 50mm f 2

I use the provided hood for the 50mm f 2

Mamiya use to make a very heavy duty rubber hood in 77mm, I use it sometimes on the
100-400 and with a 72-77 step ring on the 50-140

Haoge also makes metal square hoods for the 23mm f 1.4 and 16mm f 1.4

I use the provided hood on the 80mm Macro because it can be reversed and is nice and deep.

Nikon made a metal screw in hood in 62mm that is perfect for 56mm f 1.2. I will try to
      Find the model number.

Just bought it! I, too, hate the Fuji lens hood! LOL!

  3. Quick question: Any better options to replace the huge 100-400 Fuji lens hood? I’d like something smaller for travel.

  4. Just ordered it – thanks
