 <\/p>\n

A little over a week ago we lost our dear brother and friend Gus Clouse from this earth.\u00a0 He moved to a new address with his Heavenly Father in Paradise!\u00a0 I have known Gus for over 43 years, ever since Sherelene and I moved to Corbin.\u00a0 He served our church and community for most of those years and it seems I saw him several times a week!\u00a0 Gus was more than a friend, he was an inspiration!\u00a0 He was at every class I’ve taught at our church and he always stayed for the entire time, even the all day classes!\u00a0 His life was a living example of the 13th Chapter of 1st Corinthians!<\/span><\/p>\n

Love Is the Greatest<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

13\u00a0<\/span>If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn\u2019t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.<\/span> 2\u00a0<\/sup>If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God\u2019s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn\u2019t love others, I would be nothing.<\/span> 3\u00a0<\/sup>If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it;[a<\/a>]<\/sup> but if I didn\u2019t love others, I would have gained nothing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4\u00a0<\/sup>Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud<\/span> 5\u00a0<\/sup>or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.<\/span> 6\u00a0<\/sup>It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.<\/span> 7\u00a0<\/sup>Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

8\u00a0<\/sup>Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages[b<\/a>]<\/sup>and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!<\/span> 9\u00a0<\/sup>Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture!<\/span> 10\u00a0<\/sup>But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

11\u00a0<\/sup>When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things.<\/span> 12\u00a0<\/sup>Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.[c<\/a>]<\/sup> All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

13\u00a0<\/sup>Three things will last forever\u2014faith, hope, and love\u2014and the greatest of these is love.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I pray, that even a little, of those words from scripture, will apply to my life when my life comes to an end.\u00a0 Gus never met a stranger, never failed to make everyone welcome and feel cared for.\u00a0 Gus did countless acts of kindness for others that he never mentioned and few knew about. He taught classes, handed out food at the food pantry, provided recreation for the communities youth, he was a youth leader and I’m sure many people in our community got their first exposure to Jesus through his efforts and ministry.\u00a0 I would have loved to have been standing close by when Jesus told him, “Well done my good and faithful servant!”\u00a0 If anyone has heard that I’m sure it was Gus!\u00a0 I miss you my friend, and I look forward to seeing you again when I get to come to my forever home, until then enjoy your reward!\u00a0 I hope Wesley was there to hug you and welcome you home!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
