 <\/p>\n

Well it’s officially the Christmas season and I have another suggtestion for you! \u00a0It’s not like you really need my suggestions, but humor me, and if you take the time to watch some of these films they will brighten your holidays. \u00a0I love Christmas movies and I have a pretty vast collection, but these are the dozen plus one that \u00a0I have to watch every year. \u00a0I’ve broken them down into several categories, so here goes:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Just for fun, laughs, and enjoyment;<\/p>\n

1. \u00a0Christmas Vacation<\/strong><\/span> – \u00a0This classic with Chevy Chase is all about the ups and downs of Christmas, and family. \u00a0No matter how many times I watch it, it always brings great laughter. \u00a0The opening car\/truck chase sequence always cracks me up!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2. \u00a0A Christmas Story<\/strong><\/span> – This great tale takes us back to the 50’s when I was this same age as the main character. \u00a0The great book by Jean Shepherd, “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash.” \u00a0is wonderfully adapted! \u00a0Darren McGaven was wonderful as the dad! \u00a0 Peter Billingsley was perfect for Ralphie.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3. & 4. \u00a0Home Alone & Home Alone 2<\/strong><\/span> – \u00a0Rarely does a great movie have a great sequel but this time it worked. \u00a0Both are great films that the kids always love. \u00a0They also have wonderful messages of Christmas love.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

5. \u00a0The Santa Clause<\/strong><\/span> – \u00a0Tim Allen’s classic Christmas movies has spawned several sequels but none are as good as the first!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

6. Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas<\/strong><\/span> – \u00a0A family favorite at the Fortney house has always been this great film. \u00a0My daughter Catherine cans still recite every line while watching the film before it’s spoken!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

7. \u00a0Miracle on 34th Street (the 1947 original)<\/strong><\/span> – \u00a0This is a great film best viewed in the original black and white version. \u00a0This is a wonderful film was made one year after I was born!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

8. \u00a0Holiday Inn<\/strong><\/span> – This classic Christmas movie with the great music of Irving Berlin stars Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, and Marjorie Reynolds. \u00a0A film that is an entertaining the 50th time you watch it, as the first!<\/p>\n

Christmas films about redemption and values:<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

9. \u00a0A Christmas Carol<\/strong> –<\/span> \u00a0Many wonderful adaptation have been done to \u00a0this classic Charles Dicken’s story. \u00a0this version made int he 1951 with Alastair Sim is on e of the most faithful to the original story and most touching, though I own every version I am aware of. \u00a0this is a great story of redemption and change. \u00a0I watch it several times a year to remind me of what God wants my heart o see and embrace.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

10. \u00a0Scrooge<\/strong><\/span> – A modern adaptation fo A Christmas Carol with Bill Murray. \u00a0Filled with good laughs and a great ending of change.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

11. \u00a0It’s A Wonderful Life<\/strong><\/span> – Frank Capra’s great film about a man and his life and what a man’s actions lead to in the end. \u00a0One of the greatest films ever made. \u00a0Jimmy Stewart;;’s best film and a must see, \u00a0once every year!!!! \u00a0What would life have been like if you never existed? \u00a0This film will give you a peak!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

12. \u00a0The Bishop’s Wife<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 (1947)- A lovely story of God’s intervention into the \u00a0lives of His servants. \u00a0A classic not to be missed. \u00a0It stars Carey Grant, Loretta Young, and David Niven.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

13. \u00a0Mr Krueger’s Christmas<\/strong><\/span> – This storty adapted into film for the Seventh Day Adventist starrying Jimmy Stewart is worth watching if only for the scene where Mr. Krueger (Stewart’s character), show up at the stable and encounters the baby Jesus. \u00a0A very \u00a0powerful moment, for all of us!<\/p>\n
