Yesterday I shared some thoughts from InTouch on tithing and giving. \u00a0When most people here \u00a0the word, giving \u00a0they get a pain in their billfold. \u00a0Not all giving is money. \u00a0Read the scripture carefully and see if you can “read between the lines!”<\/p>\n

2 Corinthians 9:6-15<\/span><\/p>\n

New Living Translation (NLT)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a06<\/sup> Remember this\u2014a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7<\/sup> You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don\u2019t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. \u201cFor God loves a person who gives cheerfully.\u201d[a<\/span><\/a>]<\/sup> 8<\/sup> And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 9<\/sup> As the Scriptures say,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThey share freely and give generously to the poor. <\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Their good deeds will be remembered forever.\u201d[b<\/span><\/a>]<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a010<\/sup> For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity[c<\/span><\/a>]<\/sup> in you.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a011<\/sup> Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. 12<\/sup> So two good things will result from this ministry of giving\u2014the needs of the believers in Jerusalem[d<\/span><\/a>]<\/sup> will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a013<\/sup> As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. 14<\/sup> And they will pray for you with deep affection because of the overflowing grace God has given to you. 15<\/sup> Thank God for this gift[e<\/span><\/a>]<\/sup> too wonderful for words!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For a very long time I’ve strived to give His love in everything I do. \u00a0I’ve failed more often than I have succeeded, but I get back up and try again. \u00a0As a Christian walking in the world today, I simply try to live to a higher standard in the way I treat others. \u00a0I have a formula I want to share;<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1. \u00a0Ask God to let you see others through His eyes.<\/strong><\/span> \u00a0It’s surprising how much less we will judge others and instead, reach out to them, in love, \u00a0when we allow God let us see how He sees them!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2. \u00a0Seek to get to know something about everyone you meet.<\/strong><\/span> \u00a0Show a “genuine” interest in others. \u00a0In doing so you find countless people that need God’s love, and your acceptance.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3. Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated.<\/strong><\/span> \u00a0Enough said!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4. \u00a0NEVER be too busy to say thank you and really appreciate the efforts other make on your behalf.<\/span><\/strong> \u00a0I was raised by a mother and father that taught me to say, please and thank you. \u00a0They were wise and I realize today that their mentoring was much more than being polite. \u00a0If we are so self centered that we do not appreciate others kindness,\u00a0we need to focus our attention more outwardly.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

5. Remember that Jesus Christ not only died for you, but for everyone you will ever meet! \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So what on earth does this have to do with giving???? \u00a0God has given you many talents, and the ability to reach out to others, He doesn’t need your money, he owns it all anyway. \u00a0He wants us to live as lights in this world (His Light!), yes He wants you to be His light in the world, and that my brothers and sisters is called giving, giving of self, our greatest gift…… \u00a0That’s what Jesus did for us, He gave Himself……<\/p>\n
