This morning I had a conversation with a very well respected, killer shooter, for a major golf magazine. \u00a0In his profession he is a star, but you would never know it, he never projects it! \u00a0 It’s a conversation I’ve had before, actually many times before. \u00a0Why do some people allow their heads to get blown our of proportion?! \u00a0This morning the subject was a pro golfer, on other occasions the conversation has been about a photographer, a celebrity, or even doctors, lawyers and Indian chiefs! \u00a0The point of the verbal exercise is to obsess about why some people come to the conclusion that they are far better than everyone around them? \u00a0I can imagine that if you are a pro athlete, actor, or singer, and you get tons of attention, actually have fans that worship you, you can soon come to accept that as your reality! \u00a0Then again, how could you come to that conclusion??!! \u00a0Let’s assume that everyone started the same way, just another baby, not to your parents, of course, but certainly to the world. You were a child, like all children, you grew up an started to become the person you are today, somewhere along the way something changed, you were seen “differently by others”! \u00a0But does that mean you are different, or that people perceive you as different. \u00a0I know it is said that perception is reality, but is it?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My contention is that it is not, in all cases. \u00a0Because some people treat you as special or better than others does not actually mean you are better than others! \u00a0I once interviewed Roger Staubach, quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, he was a big star in football at that time, but he didn’t act like he was. \u00a0He was very approachable, sincere, attentive, and treated his fans with respect and as equals. Why, because he knew the “big” secret! \u00a0We are all, more or less, the same. \u00a0We are equals. \u00a0Yes some of us make more money, and some of us are more recognized in public, but we are all impacted by the same things. \u00a0You can be famous and have a marriage break up, you can be famous and be in a accident, or get a fatal disease. \u00a0When the doctor says you have cancer, it won’t matter how famous you are, you will still face the same battle as anyone else. \u00a0You can be wealthy and loose it all. \u00a0You can be famous and respected, and become disrespected and much less famous. \u00a0So where am I going with all this??<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Life is not about what you have, who you are, or what others think of you. \u00a0Life is about how much you love, and are loved, and who you love and trust. \u00a0If you trust the world, money, power, and the acceptance of others it can all be taken from you. \u00a0If you trust God, it can never be taken from you! Not a novel concept, but well worth repeating!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The world says we should desire all the things that are fragile and can disappear in and instant, how wise it to follow the instruction of the world? \u00a0God says, I love you, I will never forsake you, and I will meet your needs, and if you follow me, will give you even the desires of your heart. You tell me which is the better deal?!! \u00a0 God gives peace which is not dependent on the world, the world gives happiness which is completely at the whim of the world, and your circumstances! \u00a0Which do you want?!<\/p>\n

What I love about this profession is that over the last few days I’ve visited with a half dozen of the best sports photographers in the world. \u00a0You’ve seen their images grace the covers of every major sports magazine, many times. \u00a0Every single one of them are as nice, and down to earth as you could ever imagine. \u00a0Given the choice, and I do have a choice, these are the kinds of people I want to be around!<\/p>\n
