The color was spot on and the sharpness was great in the area of shallow focus. \u00a0The tactile pleasure of working with old dissimilar metal racing&#8217;s in the helicoids makes the shooting process so much fun. \u00a0It really takes you back to the &#8220;old&#8221; days. \u00a0As I said before I don&#8217;t see the manual lenses so much as a replacement for current lenses, but just as a great way to vary the process.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[5723]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-Blog Post Image wp-image-5726\" title=\"flower purple\" src=\"https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-580x871.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"871\" srcset=\"https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-580x871.jpg 580w, https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-99x150.jpg 99w, https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-213x320.jpg 213w, https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-600x901.jpg 600w, https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-681x1024.jpg 681w, https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-199x300.jpg 199w, https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-266x400.jpg 266w, https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-219x330.jpg 219w, https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple-332x500.jpg 332w, https:\/\/billfortney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/flower-purple.jpg 811w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then there is the cost factor, many of these classic old lenses can be purchased used in very good condition for 1\/4th to 1\/3rd the cost of current glass. \u00a0I&#8217;ve found mint condition 24mm f 2.8&#8217;s for around $150., 105 mm Micro Nikkor f 2.8&#8217;s for around $300. \u00a0By-the-way if anyone ever finds a mint condition 25-50 f 4 AIS Nikkor zoom let me know, I&#8217;ve been looking for one, for some time and would \u00a0love to add it to my classic collection!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">As of today my manual lens collection consists of:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">24mm f 2.8 Nikkor<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">55mm Micro Nikkor f 2.8<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">50-135 Nikkor f 3.5 zoom<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">105 mm f 2.5 Nikkor telephoto \u00a0(the classic portrait lens)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">105 mm Micro Nikkor f 2.8<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">80-200 Nikkor zooms (both the f 4.5 and f4)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">300 mm IF-ED f 4.5 Nikkor telelphoto<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">400mm IF-ED f 3.5 Nikkor telephoto \u00a0(One of my favorite lenses of all time!)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m still looking for the 25-50 and the 28 mm f 2.8 lens!
