Before you get the wrong idea, (and I know my boss reads this blog!), I did go to Birmingham to work. I taught two groups of photographers at the Birmingham News about using our DSLRs to do video production. Two three hour classes with half of the photo staff in each class. What I did during lunch, dinner and late afternoon is the subject of the Birmingham adventure…..<\/p>\n
Right, Walt Strickland, DOP (Director of
\nPhotography) for the Birmingham News and
\nfour of his staff joined me at my favorite
\nBar-B-Q spot in America, Dreamland. This
\nis Bar-B-Q as it was meant to be.<\/p>\n
Above, the brick ovens that cook the hund-
\nreds of pounds of ribs each day. This was
\nthe favorite spot for Bar-B-Q for the late
\ngreat, Paul \u201cBear\u201d Bryant. Alabama is a
\ngreat place to visit, friendlier people would
\nbe hard to find. Bread dipped in sauce…..<\/p>\n
After lunch and more classroom work I
\nvisited the famous Peanut Depot to see
\nthe century old peanut roasters at work.<\/p>\n
Then a stop at Rogue\u2019s Tavern was in order
\nto try the 2nd Highest Rated Burger in
\nBirmingham. I have to say that while
\nit wasn\u2019t Milt\u2019s it was a solid 4.3 burger,
\nvery worthy of the #2 award. Why not
\nthe number one burger? It was served at
\na boutique french resteraunt with Kobe
\nbeef, come on guys,give me a break
\nthat\u2019s not an American creation……<\/p>\n
After Dinner I shot a few of the classic old
\nbuildings in the old historic district of
\nBirmingham. A great town, filled with
\ngreat people, a very nice day, thank you
\nLord for another wonderful day of working
\nfor Nikon and serving you.<\/p>\n
