Monthly Archives: June 2013
I will be on airplanes all day Monday so here is the entry! Our last morning in Saratoga. CA, it was very overcast, which, for me, was an answer to prayer, I’ve seen nothing but deep blue skies for days, and frankly was sick of them, this morning, thankfully we had great light for close-ups!!! The Oaks Lodge had beautiful plants all around the property so I spent my last morning enjoying some micro work with my buddies!
Hope you had a great weekend, I’ll be back Tuesday!
Blessings,
the pilgrim

The Bio Comm group made a trip to Santa Cruz on Saturday to see the Woodies on the Wharf Festival at the Santa Cruz Wharf. You know how much I love cars, from rusted ones at Old Car City, to these wonderfully restored Woodies! It was a great afternoon looking at some really hard work by some fine car restorers! We had a great time, as we always do, and I hope you enjoy these classics. The light was less than perfect, but the Woodies were!
It was a thrill to see all these great restorations!
Blessings,
the pilgrim

Visiting an old friend! My workshop partner Jim Begley has always preferred the pro grade Nikons, the D3s, and D4. He also borrowed my brand new consignment lens the 28-300 ( a long time ago ), and I never saw it again, now I know why!!!! This is a big, heavy, but very versatile combination! It isn’t a hiker’s combo unless you are a 30 year younger Schwartnagger! It focuses very close, and is wonderful for machine gunning HDR images! Now I’m not suggesting this secret weapon is why Jim shoots such gorgeous stuff, nope, but it hasn’t hurt him either. I received one as a going away gift from Nikon and you can bet it will always be in my field kit! The fact that it was arranged by my dear friend Bill Pekala, means even more!
It’s good to meet old friends, again!!!!
Blessings,
the pilgrim

I just came from one of the most beautiful old growth forests in the world. I photographed it, I tried to find a way to contain it within the frame, but I forgot one important thing. A forest is made of trees, individual trees, there is no forest without each individual tree. God spoke loudly to me about my life, how every single blessing is like one of those trees, and all those trees are the sum of His love for me. Let me name some of my trees; A loving, beautiful, devoted wife, three fantastic children that married three great people and brought them into our family. How about my six wonderful grandchildren, a wonderful brother and his wife. Sherelene’s sisters and brother and all their families. How about Jim Begley, Bill Pekala, Don Nelson,Nick Coury, Ricky Skaggs, Charles Stanley, and I’m going to stop there because this is a list that would go on and on and on. Not bragging just truly blessed. How about 11 great years with a wonderful team at Nikon. Look I could go on and on, but this truly isn’t about me, it’s about Him.
He loves you and I so much that He gave up His most valuable possession, His Son. When you look at your life, don’t forget to take time to enjoy, admire, and appreciate all His has done for you, and just in case you haven’t noticed, it was everything!!!!
Blessings,
the pilgrim
