Monthly Archives: March 2026

In the early morning hours of March 11th Diane Oliver lost a husband and soul mate, our family lost a treasured and loved member, and the world lost an amazing man. Ron was a tribute to the word, courage. A number of years ago Ron lost both legs just above knees to a rare condition and has suffered years of debilitating phantom pains. This situation would have broken many men, but not Ron. When he went for physical therapy sessions all he could do was tell how tough the service members he met had it! Instead of grumbling or feeling sorry for himself he went about trying to live as normal a life as possible! I never spent time with Ron that I didn’t laugh a lot, he was a gift!
Diane was a picture of strength and courage as she helped Ron go down this tough path, supporting him all the way! She has been an inspiration to Sherelene and I with her never ending efforts to keep things afloat! We will all be praying for her comfort and strength.
It’s never easy to let go of the ones we love, but with all Ron suffered I wouldn’t want to ever want to deny the joy he is feeling today, living in a renewed body standing up straight on two new legs and pain free, plus about 32 years old again! I’m pretty certain that the lost and loved Marshall Football team gathered at the gate to welcome him home, that is a scene I would have loved to have seen! Until I see you again, I love you my friend!
Till we meet at the gate,
the pilgrim
