Why are we afraid of the “TRUTH?”

10 years, 4 months ago 20

Our main TV went our a few months ago and I’ve been searching for a new one.  We don’t watch very much TV but football season is coming,  and it is the only sport that I really love, so I had to be ready, right?  So I got it installed and was enjoying flipping through the channels last night and came on a bunch of different things that I want to comment on.

Let me preface this with a statement;  “There is evil, true evil in the world, and there is true kindness and compassion.  We are in a spiritual battle, and pretending that the enemy is not there, will not make him go away!  As a nation and as a people there are things we must face!

1.  On the ESPYS last night there were several stories about athletes t hat have taken a special interest in children with serious, life threatening diseases.  It reminded me that there are still people in the world that think of others first and share Christ’s love, it made up for much of the rest of what I saw.

2.  There was a story on Fox news about a TV news broadcaster who did a editorial piece on his frustrations with all the violence and killings and street crime.  He listed as one of the factors that so many inter-city young men were growing up without a fathers.  He was fired from his job for making;   “racially insensitive remarks!”  Really?  When  are we going to face the truth?

3.  A democratic senator,  (I won’t even capitalize the position), stated that the suit being brought  against the president, (I won’t capitalize that either), was politically based and he had done nothing wrong!  Let me propose an idea, If I could play 10 questions with the current president and he had to give a truthful answer to the questions, my guess is he would be impeached shortly after answering the questions, it would only take 5.  (1) Did you know it was a lie when you said, “If you like your plan or your doctor, you can keep your plan and your doctor!  (2) Did you have any knowledge or participate in the activities of the IRS, currently under investigation?  (3) How were you and your adminsitration involved in what really happened in Benghazi?  (4) Are you deliberately trying to weaken America and America’s ability to defend itself against it’s enemies? (5)  Mr president, you took the oath of office twice and in both you pledged to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States, have you done so sir, do you still believe in the constitution of the United States?  That would about do it.

4.  Do you believe the media (Hollywood,  and national television and radio broadcasters) are trying to promote a life style predicted on moral and ethical behavior?  Are your elected representatives pledged to uphold the principle on which our nation was founded?  As a Christian, do you believe the system respects your beliefs or at least your right to hold those beliefs?

It’s time to face some tough questions as a people, and as a nation.  The future of our children and grandchildren hangs in the balance, and the scale is tipping away from us!

What can we do?

First get on your knees, an stay on your knees in prayer for our nation and our society.

Ask God to renew your heart and make you an example of what He desires you to be!

Go out in the world and love others with His love, forgive those that have hurt you, and love them to Christ.

Place your faith completely in His hands.

Remember that God scarified everything to be with you, so sacrifice everything.

Blessings, in Him,

the pilgrim

The last line is the clincher! God is calling His people to deep dedication – not apathy, not laziness, not living our own lives – but a life sacrificed to HIm. Amen, my brother! Proclaim it loud and clear.

    I know that is true!

Unfortunately, your observations are all too correct. But we are saved from all that by His grace, even when we feel powerless. As John Witherspoon, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, once said, “It is only the love of God that can deliver us from the fear of man.”

May His Light shine on each of us today. And thank you for reminding us of Him.

  5. Joshua Boldt says:

The media — newspapers, magazines, TV, Movies, radio, music, internet content, etc. — is out to make money, not help citizens. To make money you have to essentially sell sin and pander to whatever groups are open to sin, have a loud voice, and have enough money to be worthwhile pandering to.

The media does this by crushing anyone who believe in sin or points it out, since they can’t sell it if people are aware of it. They also do it by putting into the media everything the groups with the most voice want to see/hear/read, by giving them more voice by inviting them inside to create media content (and\or conspicuously omitting the voice of other groups), and by bashing whatever these groups are against.

Right now the voice is clearly not conservative — religiously or politically for that matter — so the media ignores Godly people for the most part unless they mess up, and only occasionally throws them a bone once in a while to make them feel good. There is virtually no media you can trust because it is all a matter of subtly controlling people, and even conservative media has figureheads, whom I won’t name, who are just making money off of Christ while actually dragging his Word through the wringer to wash our anything that might hurt someone’s feelings or actually reveal something inside of them.

I must have a very small circle of friends and acquaintances since everyone I know feels this way Bill and yet it seems to be a minority opinion or one would expect it would get fixed.

We need (collectively) to continue to spread our thoughts, concerns and prayers in hopes that the rest of America will eventually wake up and realize that we are NOT headed in a good direction. Hopefully things will not be too far gone and we will recover to be the America we used to be.

I think that most of Americans are too ” Fat, Dumb, and Happy” and are relying on the “system” to do the things they should be doing. They believe in the “system” and not God and Morals to guide them. We (America) have lost our way and are to afraid to look in our hearts for what is Right. It takes too much honesty, sacrifice and, work to follow “The Word of God”, hence my first statement. As America drifts away from all that has made this county great we are slowly morphing into a Godless society that only seeks personal instant gratification, which is wrong on so many levels. Most of our leaders and the media want to keep it that way for their own personal gains. I am glad that there is still some “Light” out there. We must never let it diminish.

John, I wish it were not true, but I’m afraid I agree with every word you’ve written!

All good points for us to think over. We must take a hard look at what we accept as normal and not get sucked into thinking there is nothing God wants us to do about it. Sadly so many people even misguided Christians just complain and do nothing. I am reminded that ultimately it is love that wins and as we are more aware of his love for us we can then love others. It is the love of Jesus that will change hearts and when hearts change countries change.

I agree, and it is the mission of believers to spread His love so far and wide that we create a new nation! Thanks for your insights.

  9. Great Post! Evil exists and it lives among us. Too many believe evil is only a state of mind and not a reality. God exists and in direct opposition to evil. Way too many refuse to believe in him or they attempt to water down the gospel. We can love people and still oppose evil! In fact, it is what we are all called to do.

Thank you sir for the post and the observations!

  10. I think Christian principles should guide decision-making to the extent that is possible Pope Francis has spoken on this many times but I think the listening is selective.

Bill, I’ve been following your site and respect your spiritual views, but cannot condone your unfounded political views. I am also a Christian but Fox news which has its own agenda and Christianity do not belong on the same page. I do respect our PRESIDENT who was elected by the majority of Americans. All of your talking points are purely what Fox has steadily preached to its viewers and have no foundation. If something is preached over and over again, people begin to take it as the truth. You must check out all the issues instead of relying on what Fox news preaches. From the very beginning, the right has attempted to bring down this president with lies and deceit…..is this christianity? Our middle class is dwindling and all the focus on the right is on big money and war….is this Christianity?

When Lois Lerner was asked to reveal what part she had in the IRS fiasco, knowing if she told the truth she would hurt a lot of people, not the least herself. She evoked the Fifth Amendment! I would like to do the same!
