It’s Rant Wednesday……..
DEPRESSSING:
A recent Pew poll reveals that Christianity is on the decline. 78.4% of Americans considered themselves Christians in 2007, it’s down to 70.6% in 2014. Members of the Jewish faith grew from 1.7% to 1.9% and Muslims in America increased from 0.4% to 0.9%. The biggest swing was that now, the unaffiliated category (atheists, agnostics, and uninterested) has grown by 50% from 16.1% in 2007 to 22.8% in 2014. So what can we do to reverse this trend?
I think our only solution is to take a clue from Jesus. He came to earth as a man, He loved people with a love like they had never known, an unconditional love. He forgave others, He met their needs, He genuinely cared about them. Nothing will affect the hearts of man, more than showing them the kind of love Jesus showed. It is our only hope!
DISGRACEFUL:
Every year the French have a 4 day celebration in Normandy complete with American uniforms, tanks, jeeps and guns. They still honor the Americans who died there….June 6, 2015, the 71st anniversary of “D-Day”, the largest invasion ever attempted, where 200,000 Americans stormed the beaches at Normandy to begin the final push to defeat Nazi Germany in WWII.D-Day marked the turning point in WWII in Europe… Today, European heads of state make it a point to recall and honor the sacrifices of those who landed in Normandy, as do our Presidents…. well, most of them….In the 69 years since D-Day, there are four occasions when the President of the United States chose not to visit the D-Day Monument that honors the soldiers killed during the Invasion.
The occasions were:
1. Barack Obama, 2010
2. Barack Obama, 2011
3. Barack Obama, 2012
4. Barack Obama, 2013For the past 69 years, every American President except Obama have taken the time to honor the memory and sacrifices of the 6,000 American soldiers killed on D-Day. …Except Obama!June 6 2010, Obama had no events scheduled.June 6, 2011, Obama met with the National Security team and was interviewed by WEWS Cleveland and WDIV in Detroit about the auto industry – FAR too busy to visit the D-Day memorial.
June 6, 2012, instead of honoring our fallen soldiers, Obama made a campaign trip to California on Air Force 1 (at our expense) to raise funds for (his) upcoming election.
June 6, 2013, Obama was doing ANOTHER fund raiser with the multimillionaires in the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Palo Alto, CA, once again at our expense.
America – Aren’t you proud?
Four times in 69 years!! Disgraceful………
MADDENING:
The book Clinton Cash has caused a fire storm of reaction among many Americans, yet the main stream media, (NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNB and the rest), have not reported hardly anything about this out and out scandal. Hillary Clinton and her husband Bill have collected billions of dollars for charitable causes, but less than 10% has gone to any worth causes. While Bill and Hillary live lavish life styles and have cut deals with many foreign governments, using their influence to repay the donor nations. Much of their activities would land you or I in prison, they dance merrily along! What a shame that we can no longer trust the media to find out the truth, and report it!!!!!! Oh, and Hillary has just said we are going to have to get over our “religious and cultural beliefs” so she can push forward her left leaning agenda!?^%$@!$#^!&* Not on my watch!
DISDAINFUL:
It was revealed yesterday that the NFL teams have been charging the military for the display of patriotism at the beginning of games to the tune of millions! On the same day the commissioner came down hard on Tom Brady for “maybe” being involved in reducing the air level in balls by 2 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!! GIVE ME A BREAK! When are we going g to start acting like adults! Can we possibly get our priorities straight! Why don’t we fine those team owners that charged the U.S. Military for showing patriotism!!! Talk about damage to the shield………
ENCOURAGING:
At the same time policeman are being disrespected and gunned down in the streets, officer Michael Keane risked his life to help save numerous people from the tragic Amtrak train crash near Philadelphia this morning. I for one would like to thank the police, the sheriff’s departments, the state troopers, the firemen, the first responders, and the member of our military for all they sacrifice for us!! I’m sorry for the actions of my fellow citizens, but I’ve got your back! God bless you and God Bless America, even if she is turning away from you, a price will be paid for our national state. Please pray for America.
We have much work to do.

I stand corrected, I certainly should have checked the sources on the piece I repeated from the Internet! It appears I was factually wrong about Mr. Obama attending D Day ceremonies in Normandy. I apologize for the unfair characterization, and I’m genuinely sorry that it offended you! However, having suffered through six and half years of his pathetic lack of leadership and utter destruction of our country, I’m not ready to salute the man. As to being “myopic”, no my friend, I’ve just paid close attention to his conduct, which makes me far less than a fan. I honestly find it hard to understand why he has so many apologists, after his performance in office. But, to each his own! Many fine Americans gave their lives so we could have these spirited differences of opinion, and yet stand side by side and say, “God Bless America” together.

Normally, I just don’t respond to this kind of baiting but if Rant Wednesday is your opportunity to act like “the angry white male” Bill thanks for the warning. I love your work but I hear enough of man’s incivility towards man and see enough of man’s inhumanity to man daily. I just don’t think it’s how we solve our problems. Our company spends a lot of money on sending us managers to communication workshops and conflict management sessions. I was just telling a colleague the other day it’s high time we start using some of that education. I don’t expect to encounter raging here on the pages of your blog. Having said that, it is your blog so I will go in peace.
Great post Bill! I think the religion issue points to how much our country is changing – rapidly. I travel internationally for two weeks per trip, often in Asia. After being gone and returning, it’s shocking to realize how much is changing for the worse. I’m finding that I am becoming more and more conservative, and like you, just plain frustrated. Keep up the good work and keep the rants coming, more people should speak up just like you are doing.

Just a word of caution on references to “snopes” as a end all answer to truth and justice. Snopes is run be a David and Barbara Mikkelson. Barbara is a Canadian citizen and can’t even vote in the U.S.
Their research is done entirely by themselves and has been subject to several accusations that they are far too liberal to do a fair analysis of any subject. I’ll leave that to the individual to decide, but I personally think that it is a site that if you agree with their philosophy you will site them in any argument. I would use extreme caution in believing anything read on the internet and especially from snopes. I find that Snopes, Moveon.org, Huffington Post, MSNBC, etc. are frequently used by the liberal left as fact finding sites and this is discouraging. Keep up the rants!!

I well and truly agree. As far as the book “Clinton Cash” the same author has a similar book coming out about Jeb Bush and apparently he is no saint either. I learn so much more about politics by watching the business news because they follow the money. Anymore as far as what party to vote for it is becoming a choice of the lesser evil. Frankly, I am not particularly worried about whether the president goes to the D-day ceremony. I am much MORE interested in whether we have a strong defense (in my day you joined the Guard or Reserves to avoid being on the front lines — and today our military strength is so dwindled that we have them in combat) and that we remember out veterans by taking care of them properly and the same for our men and women in uniform today. THAT is the national scandal.
As for the Clintons, they are a mixed bag. I am actually thankful Hillary was around during Obama’s first term and Bill’s presidency was far from a total disaster. I wasn’t a big Clinton fan but, geez, you’d think Obama would take a few cues from him. Frankly, I take the integrity of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren over the Clinton’s.

In church history you see that every 500 years there has been some kind of schism since Christ rose. The first was theological, the second was political, the third was on the person of Christ (reformation), and the last is what I call winnowing. It’s where those who were Christian in name only reveal themselves for who they really are. It’s the sorting of the wheat and tares. No matter, though, Christ is above all and I think a lot of people are in for a big surprise. He is coming… and maybe sooner than we expect.
