Two Great Weeks!
I only made one image (above) at the Great Smoky Mountains Nature Photography Summit, but I sure had a great time! 200 photographers really enjoyed the second Annual Summit and I was thrilled to join them! The fall color was pretty disappointing but the programs, and fellowship were great!
Jack and I arrived in Las Vegas, Sunday afternoon and are already scouting for the upcoming Zion Workshop. We started in Southern Utah and then came up to Zion, we had a great day, scouting and shooting, here are some of my favorites!
Lots more to come!!!!
Blessings,
the pilgrim

Sounds like you’re having a wonderful time. I’m looking forward to the images and stories of the adventure.
Thanks, happy to share!
Glad to see you are safe and sound!
Thanks Dick, safe for sure, not sure about sound!
Jack, last week was terrific! I’m not surprised you only made one image, as busy as you were. There is so much subject matter in Great Smoky Mountains Natinal Park that color was secondary. But it was very colorful in some areas. You just had to look for it.
I would recommend next year’s Summit to anyone who loves to photograph in a beautiful place as well as share a week with you, Jack and about 18 other professional photographers/educators who never once showed any pretentiousness and were more than generous with their knowledge and time. The fellowship was as good as the photographic experience.
The quality and diversity of speakers is a credit to you and your insistence that only ethical photography instructors present to the attendees. Each of them not only shared their images and knowledge, but did it from the heart and with sincerity. You set high standards for them and they lived up to those standards. It made a huge difference in the quality of the experience.
Thank you, my friend, stay safe and see you soon.

The Summit was Great, in fact the only one word adjective I can think of is WOW! Instructors were fantastic, and I have to admit I was one tired puppy when I got home. Thank You, April and the rest of the crew for a wonderful time. Last but pretty much on the top was Ken Jenkins presentation on Sunday. What a blessing!
Bill,
I was fortunate to walk upon your group and witness you tour setting up and shooting that one image.
I was so impressed with watching a master at work and listened to you explain to your small group as to what you were doing and why you were doing it so much in fact I returned the next afternoon or the following evening as it was getting pretty dark to shoot my version of that seen near “Bill’s Rock”.
My version was shot with the 18-135 set at 18mm. I forgot to ask which lens you used but that doesn’t really matter . My version was a 3 shot vertical panorama which I have been doing quite a bit over the last year or so. You can see my version here: https://photos.smugmug.com/Fall-Smokies-2016/i-kbGBPz3/0/L/20161027-_JB27883-Pano-L.jpg
Again, I want to thank you for being such a positive inspiration in my approach to nature photography and life in general. I sat there upon those rocks shooting and shooting different compositions and enjoying the solitude and sounds of that small amount of rushing water.
I can’t wait to return next Fall and see what scene “Bill’s Rock” will bestow upon us.
Look forward to seeing you next March/April at PCU.
