Friends color our lives……

I arrived at the a Best Western Mountain Lodge in Banner Elk, NC at the same time as Mike Roberts.  It was great opportunity to hang out, do a little scouting for the workshop, and catchup. Some of you may remember that Mike’s wife had a long battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord a few months ago.  During these tough times, all of us, his friends, were there for him and Zoe.  You may think that this is an entry about how much we helped him, and I think we did, but it is actually the other way around.  When we get the honor of reaching out and praying for, and loving on a friend that is going though a difficult part of life, we are blessed just as much as the recipient is of the prayers!  The great commission is about loving others with Christ’s love, bringing some of them to Him, and supporting those that are already brothers and sisters.

In the process of reaching out to Mike, I got to know him a lot better and I learned what a great guys he was.  I made a great new friend!  I also learn a great deal from him watching how steadfast he and Zoe were in their faith and how it carried them through the experience. Now I see how strongly Mike is holding on to his faith, and what an example he is to me about dealing with such a great loss.  God gives us brothers and sisters to be there for us, and our reward is serving Him, and getting so much more back in the relationship!

I’m looking forward to several days with Mike and the rest of our group, today has been a foretaste of what He can teach us, through a friend…..

Blessings,

Many prayers for you and your workshops and all the opportunities you and your participants may have.

  2. Bill – I love this entry. I had the great privilege in Glacier to have Mike in our car as we were out shooting at Logan’s Pass. He was such a blessing to me – I had no idea that his wife was battling cancer. I had been walking through my father’s battle with cancer at that very time and Mike just blessed all of us in that group. And that very day I received the news that my father went home to be with the Lord. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of my His Light friends here for their ministry in my life. I am just so thankful for your love for the Lord, Bill, for the incredible His Light team, and for how special these His Light Workshops are. There is such a sense of community – a joy and the love of the Lord – that takes each workshop well beyond the wonderful joy of photography to an experience of a lifetime. I feel as though I’ve made friends for life and I am so thankful to the Lord for you and all of my His Light friends. Have a great workshop – wish I could be there. Blessings to you!

Thank you Catherine for so beautifully describing what The Lord is doing through these gatherings! That first day when Jim and I knelt at my office chair and gave the workshops to Him and to His glory the fate was sealed! Anything we “truly” release to Him, He will take it and bless it and bless those associated with it! It is so much better than trying to accomplish His will alone! We love the Martin’s!!!

    Hi, Bill –

Because I had originally planned to go to the Grandfather Mountain Workshop, I set an alarm on my phone for the days I would be there. Now every morning that alarm sounds to remind me of what I’m missing and to bring all of you to mind. I am thinking about, missing, and praying for all of you. I second everything Carherine said above!

  4. Hope you are all having a great time on the mountain — I will be there tomorrow (God and Delta willing).
