His regional newsletter bundles are great also.

Bill, I have searched for that large rock on the Tremont Road that is displayed at the top of your website but have not located it yet. Once again this fall I will search for that flat rock once again.

Difficult to find it in the fall when the water level is lower.

    • Bill Fortney says:

Go up the Tremont road past the big wooden bridge, as the road climbs keep looking down to your right to the stream. The river will turn left in a wide turn where the bank down from the road becomes very steep. It’s there, look for the very. Large rock right across from it on the road side of the shore!

        Thanks Bill!

I will look again and yes some of those banks are very steep. Some times I have wondered if I was ever going to get back up to the top. But I have never been disappointed with the shots I have gotten down at the edge.

There are some great abstract shots to be had along that river midday (if you like that abstract look) when the sky is blue and using that 70-200 to isolate the fall colors in the water and drag that shutter speed way down.

I always look forward to going to the Smokies and it is such a change after being in the San Juan Mountains (please Lord bring a fresh snow like you did last year) a few weeks earlier. Living in Texas the drive to New England is just too far so I just have to “live” with a trip to SW Colorado with a follow up to the Smokies.

Maybe a little fall blog post to get those fall visions going.

  2. Darn Bill, no mention of the Iowa Loess Hiils and northwest Iowa. We are always overlooked. I guess corn and soybean fields don’t work. lol

I have used his newsletters for several years and have found them to be most helpful. Some of the newsletters are long in tooth; but, several have updates. Even the oldest ones I find useful.

Hi Bill…Thank you for telling me about this incredible resource. I’m very surprised I hadn’t found this earlier. I’ll be buying the complete collection soon.

I also second the idea of creating an index or search function for your blog! There have been numerous times that I’ve wanted to search for older posts on a particular topic but didn’t have the time to search day-to-day.
