First Day Back Out for 2012!

I’m in New Orleans, finally.  The only thing good I can say about Delta is I did get here alive!  Every other thing that could go wrong did go wrong!  I flew Delta from the day I joined Nikon 9 years ago and for the first 7 and a half years I loved them, then they merged with Northwest and a bunch of other carriers and became the world’s largest and now, in my opinion, worst airline.  It seems that the former great airline that was always on time, always friendly and helpful has now become none of the above.  This morning our flight was delayed because two crews showed up to fly us to Atlanta, and the one crew that was supposed to fly us had not had the proper paperwork filed!  When we finally left 25 minutes late, we then had sit on the tarmac because Atlanta Air Traffic Control held up flights in bound for 20 minutes, then when we finally landed in Atlanta we were delayed for fifteen minutes waiting to get into our gate, then the pink tag bags were very late.  I ran to the train, and ran to my next gate and made it just before they closed the door.  Packed in like a sardine, I finally went from a boil to a simmer, to calm, but I had to do something in honor of their lack of performance today, so here is my newest t-shirt!

O.K. having vented, I did get to the hotel and picked up my credentials for the Sugar Bowl and met with Mike Anskat our Repair Technician and planned our day at the stadium, (Super Dome), for the days activities.

I did get out in the afternoon to pick up some supplies and shot a few images of the French Quarter.  I just carried my point and shoot and was happy with the variety of stuff I could  produce with a simple camera.  Not having to make lens decisions actually led to a much more relaxed stroll.

Hope you like the results.

Nice photos, Bill. Love that they were taken with a point and shoot. Does Jazz Gumbo from a Praline Company taste like Alligator? Just wondering. Have some beignets at Cafe Du Monde for the rest of us. They have a sugar bowl there, too.
