Loved the painting and it opened up a great title, but it has nothing to do with today’s blog! Today I want to talk about a good friend, Bob Krist. I called Bob this morning to get some information for an upcoming article about what some top pros carry in their camera bag, for the Learning Center. I will get into that in the article, but for today I want to laud a friend. I met Bob many years ago and we have taught some workshops together and had some good times out shooting in the field. What I want to say about Bob is something I hope you’re working on in your own life.
I’ve never met another photographer that has met or knows Bob who has had anything to say negative about him. In fact they not only never say negative things, almost everyone, to a person, says, “Bob, what a great guy! I really like that man…..” Why do you guess that is so? Well, I would be happy to tell you, Bob is an outwardly living person. He thinks more about others than himself. He think so much about others that he picks up on what their needs are and then goes to work trying to be of help. Bob is an incredible artist with a camera, and I often see his work, and pay him my highest compliment, “I wish I had shot that!” However, with Bob, I don’t say that , not even to myself. No, I think Bob Krist deserves every good thing that comes into his life. Bob has endured plenty of pain in his life, but he still is the same great guy I’ve always known, he carries himself well.
I would suggest that you examine your life and ask yourself a key question we should all ask ourselves everyday; who and what am I living for? If you do it might lead you to live a life that will make you more like Bob. Is Bob something extra ordinary? No, Bob is just another photographer, but his choices have made him something extra ordinary, a man that cares. We all can be that same kind of person, but we first have to get ourselves out of the way, easier to said than done, but well worth the ffort!
When it is all said and done, I would be proud if someone compared me, in anyway with Bob, as shooter that’s not going to happen, as a man, I’m still working on it!
