Day Eight’s Image – Daily Double
Today I’m treating you to a Daily Double! When I arrived at the Chamber of Commerce building the sun was hitting the back of the red and yellow caboose! Had to shoot it, but then it went overcast and the side of the train gears were too much to pass up! Once again my attempt at a “Maisel ” shot. I’m not kidding myself, only Jay is the real Maisel!
Photography Post-Mortem: Shot with the X-T5 and XF 90mm f 2 R L WR @ f 5.6 and 1/190th of a second. ISO 1,600. Because this is a continuous tone subject a little noise was apparent, but Topaz Noise AI. The Caboose shot was with the X-T5 16-80 zoom at F8 1/1,000 of a second ISO 800.
I really like how well Acros with a red filter, renders with the benefit of the 40 mega pixels in the X-T5!
Blessings,
the pilgrim

Love the color but wow on the monochrome! Was it handheld or tripod?
Both handheld, Rodney I’m either getting lazy or relaxing more when I shoot! IBIS helps!
Jack would say Lazy, I say relaxed!
I can handhold my X-H1 and get sharp images (I too enjoy not lugging my tripod around as I’ve gotten older). I am considering getting the X-T5 and was wondering if I could handhold it too and get sharp photos (with it being 40 MP). I know Jack would say “lug that tripod around! lol) but I can’t lug one around very far anymore.
I’m having great luck with it, and I’m not the steadiest guy on the block anymore!
A daily double or a triple is always in order for trains. The bright colors need to be shown in color. For the side rods and wheels, your subject is almost monochrome before you made the photo. The side rods and wheels is my favorite of the pair of photos.
Some days, making a good photo is a challenge as nothing seems look interesting or photogenic. Other days, great subjects surround you. When you have those other days, abandoning the one shot a day rule is expected.
